Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! is designed to raise awareness about the importance of reading and to inspire Florida's students and families to make reading part of their daily routines.
The Florida Department of Education announced this year's theme is theme is Launch Into Literacy, Blast Off Into New Worlds!
Schools across Manatee County are hosting various activities and spirit days, in order to make the reading celebration more fun and memorable.
Students in Palmetto are taking selfies with their favorite book, while classes in Parrish are filled with young people dressed like their favorite story book characters.
