This news is music to our ears! Lee Middle School band students, under the direction of Jacob Grimes, earned STRAIGHT EXCELLENT's during their MPA (Music Performance Assessment) this week.
The Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA) District 11 Jazz Band event was held at Lemon Bay High School in Englewood (South Sarasota County).
It's the first time these students have performed during the MPA program.
They played "Bad Attitude!", "Watch What Happens" and "Maximum Velocity".
Bands participated from Manatee, Sarasota, Hardee, DeSoto and Charlotte Counties.
Lee was the only traditional public middle school from Manatee County taking part in the performances.
Proud Principal Ginger Collins also attended.
According to the MPA, the purpose of these assessments is to provide opportunities for students and directors to perform, serve as a motivational goal for students and allow other students to hear performances from their peers.
All three judges gave Lee's band an "Excellent" score. Congratulations!
