Summer break became a launchpad for discovery as 27 rising juniors and seniors from across Manatee County participated in the free Manatee Technical College's Career Exploration Camp.

Held June 9-11, 2026, the three-day experience gave students an inside look at the exciting opportunities available at both MTC campuses while helping them explore potential career paths through hands-on learning and real-world experiences.

The adventure began with a tour of MTC’s Main Campus, where students learned about financial aid, student services, and career counseling resources designed to help them plan for life after high school. They also explored the many career pathways available through technical education and workforce training.

The biggest adventure came on days two and three, when each student selected two programs to experience firsthand. Students visited both the Main (6305 State Road 70 East, Bradenton, FL 34203) and East (5520 Lakewood Ranch Blvd, Bradenton, FL 34211) campuses, shadowing current MTC students, meeting instructors, and participating in hands-on activities that brought each career to life.

Campers explored a wide variety of programs, including Law Enforcement, Fire Science, Dental Assisting, and Surgical Technology at the East Campus, as well as Welding, Advanced Manufacturing, Culinary Arts, Barbering, Cybersecurity, Digital Video Production, and many more at the Main Campus.

Whether trying their hand at welding, stepping into a simulation lab, or learning the creative side of digital media production, students gained valuable insight into careers they may one day pursue.

By the end of the week, participants walked away with more than just new experiences—they left with a better understanding of their interests, expanded career possibilities, and a firsthand look at the skills needed to succeed in today’s workforce.

The success of the camp was made possible thanks to the welcoming efforts of MTC’s Main and East Campus administrators, staff, instructors, and students, who opened their classrooms and shared their passion and expertise with the next generation of learners.
