This is a student interest story, where we talk about trends and popular topics at Parrish Community High School.

Numerous students bring their own water bottles to school. We noticed that the most popular water bottles right now are the Owala and Stanley cups. So, we decided to find out which one is superior.

Based on an anonymous Instagram poll, the Owala got 50 votes, while the Stanley got 21 votes. Based on students I spoke to around school, the Stanley cup got 6 votes while the Owala got 11.

While this is a small sample size, it speaks to the popularity of the Owala water bottle.

Amelia Capellan agrees that the Owala is the superior water bottle. “The Owala is more durable and easier to carry around than the Stanley.”

The Owala has some other clear advantages. It’s big, leakproof with a sturdy straw. It keeps drinks cold and is significantly cheaper. The biggest difference to the Stanley is its lack of handle to conveniently carry.

However, as Capellan said, it is still easier to carry as you can put it in your backpack without risk of spilling.

Those who selected the Stanley chose it because of the bigger size options, comfortable handle, and ability to keep drinks cold longer. However, Stanley’s are more likely to leak and are more expensive.

To summarize, students at PCHS seem to prefer the Owala over the Stanley.

Regardless of your choice of water bottle, it’s important to keep them clean. Both are good to carry around school to stay hydrated throughout the day. Especially for students in sports or after school programs. Both also give students the opportunity to personalize them with color and stickers.
