The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) organization held their first meeting of the school year on Friday, Sept. 5.
FCA is a club where faith and friendship meet; where everyone is welcome to be part of the team. It's not just for athletes, it is for anyone who wants to discuss and learn about Jesus Christ.
FCA is more than just a club. The goal is for the students to find themselves and create new friendships while learning about the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
FCA meets every Friday in room 5-114 from 7-7:20 am to discuss and learn about the word of God. The group has grown massively. Last year, students had to stand in the back due to lack of seats. After the first meeting this year, the group might have to look for a bigger location to accommodate the large turnout.
Some of the FCA leaders at PCHS are youth leaders from Bayside Community Church. Additionally, the group is run by student leaders in each class:
F
reshman Leaders: Kinley Nicka, and Madelyn Walsh.
Sophomore Leaders: Sophie Garib, Lilly Fulton, Jack Nicka, and Graham Bosmeny.
Junior Leaders: Sophia Thomas, Zoey Morelli, Will Kriby, and Jorden Lutsch.
Senior Leaders: Sadie Kruse, Sam Bosmeny, Oliver Rogers, and Foster Smith.
Garib said, “I love the group and the people that get to meet. We help each other grow and I've made so many friends through this club.”
Additionally, students can join the club “All for Him.” This club is another opportunity for students to grow their faith; however, this one is specifically a girls’ bible study.
All for Him (AFH) meets in room 5-236 every Thursday morning from 7-7:20 am with breakfast prior at 6:50 am.
Lauren Medred, a PCHS history teacher, runs the club in addition to student leaders in each class:
Sophomore Leaders: Lucy Prater, Sierra Rivera, Lacey Kimbrell, Amelia Schroeder
Junior Leader: Marquivia Morgan
Senior Leader: Kaylin Kitchens
Prater said, “My favorite thing about AFH is getting to be an example to these girls. I love being able to help lead them into the right way of living and encouraging them to build community in the right group of friends. AFH has been such a blessing in my own life too, and I love seeing how God uses this group to help all of us grow closer to him and each other.”
Both these clubs help PCHS students find themselves and find friends that will help them grow.
