PCHS Bulletin - Kylie Bouchard and Haven Wood

Published Date – October 13, 2025

PCHS FFA held their first official meeting of the year on September 16 to address upcoming events, career development events (CDEs), program of activities (POA), meet the officers, and enjoy some snacks as they get to know each other.

Additionally, they talked about community service opportunities and where to locate their official FFA jackets.

There are 10 officers:

  • Emma Spivey – President

  • Kaycee Kirby – Vice President

  • Cole Arrant – Secretary

  • Marley Miller – Sentential

  • Sophia Austine – Treasurer

  • Sophia Gagliano – Reporter

  • Kristen Brooks – Chaplin

  • Kallee Rhoades – Student Advisor

  • Katie Sheffer – Historian

  • Hannah Smith – Parliamentarian

The officers planned meetings, competitions, and last year they coordinated a “love yourself” banner where everyone wrote a motivational quote to put on a poster as part of their POA.

There are other events on the calendar including a haunted carnival and a pumpkin decorating contest after their meeting October 21. They will attend a national convention at the end of October as well as districts in December. They will also be hosting a district Christmas party.

FFA had a big wave of freshmen this year. Many of these students came from Buffalo Creek, Haile, and Nolan Middle Schools. all of whom have very active FFA programs.

Emma Spivey, senior at Parrish Community High and president of the club, said those kids came in and were ready to hit the ground running; many of them even had previous championships.

Not all of the freshmen came in with previous experience, but the fresh new faces bode well as the program at PCHS continues to grow.

FFA runs meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. To join FFA, students must meet a few requirements such as taking an agriculture class; this can be any of the classes offered including Agriculture foundations, technology, horticulture, or animal science.

Students interested in joining should attend and speak to the officers and advisors for more details.
