Both the girls and boys golf teams at PCHS have already made some amazing accomplishments this season. There have been multiple great meets for these golfers.

The girls have continued to take home numerous wins from recent matches. This includes the Mustang Invitational on September 26 with a score of 293. Natalie Angelo (Jr.) medaled with a score of 69. Additionally, Phoenix Scanlan (Jr.), Avery Banfil (Jr.), and Maya Krone (Sr.) scored 74. Olivia Agate (So.) scored 76, and Stefani Cannon (Sr.) scored 85.

Additionally, the girls took the win at the Qdoba Invitational on October 3 with a score of 297. Banfill and Scanlan both took individual scores under par.

On October 6, the girls defended their title at the Donald Ross Invitational. Banfil, Angelo, Agate, and Scanlan stood out for their individual scores of 67, 71, 72, and 73 respectively.

The girls’ golf season continues with their upcoming championship season. Every girl on the team has worked extremely hard all season. They are hopeful to achieve their goal of winning the state championship at the end of the season.

In the meantime, golfers Cannon and Krone are both looking at various colleges for golf but have not committed to any of them yet.

The boys have also had many accomplishments this season.

September 23 and 25 took the boys to matches against Palmetto and St. Stephens respectively. Mikes Burke won his JV match against Palmetto and earned a spot on the Varsity line up against St. Stephens.

Then on September 30, the boys took on two highly ranked opponents. Sarasota ranked 2nd and Steinbrenner ranked 7th. The boys only lost to Steinbrenner by 1 stroke, but the rest of the players were praised for their strong start.

On October 2, the boys’ golf team played at the Mustang Invitational at Seminole Lake Country Club. Individual golfers were given shoutouts for their performance. Owen Paoli (So.) was credited for his work in the back 9 with a score of 72. Tristan Pasch (Jr.) scored 75 driving 9 and 18 greens. Colton Hallam (Sr.) scored 77 with 3 birdies. Finally, Miles Burke (Fr.) “earned his belt” with a score of 87.

Overall, the boys scored a 311, placing the team 4th overall out of 17 teams.

They also competed at the Donald Ross Invitational on October 6 with a 5th place finish. Paoli and Pasch continued to impress with scores of 70 and 71.

They took on Palmetto and St. Stephens in a windy match on October 9. The boys’ continued efforts led to lowering their season stats. Patterson said on his team’s Instagram page that “this season has the lowest ever scoring statistics in the seven years of this program.”

Coach Doug Patterson said the team's ability to play and support each other as a team is a major strength.

“We practice competitive situations all the time, but to have a great pairing to really gel and work off each other in a match is something that we've been succeeding in this year,” he said.

Patterson believes that his two best players, Pasch and Paoli, work very well together on the course. When the team is close, it really shows how much better they will be.

“When I pair those two in a tee time against ANY team, look out, they're probably going low! And they do!” Patterson said.

Pasch is interested in continuing to play golf in college because “I enjoy the game and the practice it brings.”

Both Pasch and Paoli believe the chemistry within the team has drastically improved.

“We all get alone and hang out more,” Paoli said.

The boys now look to their championship season, which includes the Manatee County Championship and the state series.
