PCHS Bulletin - Logan Hagood

Concert attendance is rising in popularity at Parrish Community High School. Some of this is timed around new album releases and social media attention.
Some of the popular artists are Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Billie Eillish, Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar and SZA, Post Malone, Drake, and The Weekend.
But which is the most popular?
According to Google, Taylor Swift has the biggest concert tour of all time with the Eras Tour that ran from March 2023-December 2024 with more than 96,000 attendees.
The tour raised over $2 billion and sold 11 million tickets. This led to a rise in popularity for Swift and more media attention, for what was to come next in her music career.
Taylor Swift released a new album on October 3, 2025, called “The Life of a Showgirl.”
On an anonymous Instagram poll, students at Parrish Community were asked how they felt about the new album.
With 97 people voting, 20% said they loved the album; 15% said it wasn’t their favorite album of hers; 6% hadn’t listened to it yet but will, and 58% said they are not “a Swiftie” and do not plan to listen to it.
However, the numbers at PCHS don’t compare to the record-breaking commercial success that “The Life of a Showgirl” has had since its release.
In only one day, 1.2 million people streamed Swift’s new album at once. The album also had over five million pre-saves on Spotify and achieved 3.5 million “equivalent sales” in its first week.
Some other concerts attended recently were Lil Tecca, Thomas Rhett, The Offspring, Blink 182, Metallica, AC/DC, Jason Aldean, Drake, The Weekend, TXT, and the Lumineers.
Believe it or not, The Weekend is #1 on Spotify, with over 117 million monthly listeners and a net worth of about $300-$600 million.
Drake has about five Grammys, and as of 2024, he has a net worth of approximately $250 million.
Regardless of which artists are most popular, students are Parrish Community clearly enjoy getting to see their favorite musicians and artists.
William Porter (Sr.) said, “I enjoy going to concerts because I love getting to hear my favorite songs live and in person. Especially if I go with friends.”
