From the sidelines to competition, cheer and dance are ready to kick off their 2025-2026 competitive season. The coaches are optimistic about this season and hope for the best for their teams.
Bailee French, coach of the cheer team, said, “I hope we place at states.”
Athletes are feeling the same and are ready to enjoy the competition season.
“I like it since it challenges us and it pushes us to put fourth something we can do in sideline,” senior Ryann Panico states. “And it requires team effort which is always good.”
Panico and senior Alexia Barlow serve as captains this year.
The cheer team has their first competition of the season on Saturday, November 22. Competitions will continue until States scheduled tentatively for January 22 or 23.
The Blue Belles are also looking forward to the start of their competition season. Natalie Moore, coach of the Blue Belles, said, “The goal is to continue all of the momentum we have generated into our competition season by bringing clean, energetic routines to the stage.”
Moore is new to the Blue Belles this year, but not to dance. Moore said she has been involved in the dance world since elementary school in the roles of a coach, choreographer, instructor, business owner, and performer. She also has past experience as an All-Star Dance Coach and was a College Dance Team Member. She hopes this will bring a variety of valuable skills to grow the team.
Over the summer, she brought the Blue Belles to a UDA Camp in Tampa. She said, “The experience allowed time for team bonding as well as the opportunity to learn a lot of choreography”
The team is led this year by Football Captain Skylar Harvill, Competition Captains Mya Williams and Olivia Kuhlber, and Social and Spirit Leaders Ava Cox and Erin Ohman.
The team is preparing for the following competitions: NDA Regionals on January 10, UDA Regionals on January 19, and Nationals on February 6–8.
