The Parrish Community Cross Country season concluded the FHSAA state series with standout runner, Sophomore Kayla Hawk, qualifying for the state championship on November 22.

The cross-country team competed in several meets throughout the season, facing difficult competition from other schools at district and regional levels. Advancing to the state level is an impressive accomplishment and takes a great amount of determination and training.

Hawk went into the state championship, ranked 96th overall in the state, and 37th in Class 4A. This is a great achievement for the young runner. Hawk said, “representing my school as the only one at states was really cool.”

Hawk also said the most challenging part of the season was the training, which intensified as she advanced up to the state meet. The star runner finished the season 35th, with a time of 19.42.8.

Hawk’s hard work has not gone unnoticed. Coach Antwan Wright said, “This will be her first time competing at this level, and we are confident it won’t be her last.”

Her success throughout the season will set an excellent example for the future of the cross-country program and its runners.
