DECA students competed in their regional competition on November 20. 7 students placed in the top 3 in their event to secure their spot at the state competition.
1st Integrated Marketing Campaign Service - Steven Lam
1st Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling - Avery Scribner
2nd Business Finance - Aaron Gonzales
2nd Financial Selling - Kalynn Devito
3rd Start up Business Plan - Val Bradford
3rd Integrated Marketing Campaign Event - Will Porter
3rd Innovative Plan - Newman Wood
There might be a few more students that qualify for states, but these are just the ones who automatically qualify.
Scribner says, “I hope to do well at states. Last year I took 6th at states so my goal is to place higher and attend to internationals (ICDC) again."
This is her 4th year competing in this event and she put lots of work and time into her presentation.
Bradford said, "It felt rewarding taking 3rd in my event. I didn't fully prepare until I was on the bus heading to the competition. I wanted it to feel more natural on the day and it obviously worked out. I hope to know more about the statistics on my project going into the state competition so I feel more prepared."
Before the end of the semester, select DECA and TV production students at PCHS had the opportunity to attend a New York Trip. They got to tour places like the trade floor, MBC studios, and the Rockettes. They also had the opportunity to see the Broadway show "And Juliet." Finally, they went sightseeing to iconic stops such as Times Square, Central Park, SoHo, and Little Italy.
Scribner and Bradford said it was a lot to pack into a few short days, but both enjoyed the trip and look forward to future events in the DECA program.
