PCHS Bulletin – Brooklynn Deckman

There is excitement in the Parrish Bulls’ weight room for the girls’ 2026 weightlifting season. Under Head Coach Remi Hebert, the team roster has expanded to 30 girls, and many of them are new. With this larger number, the second-year head coach wants to send as many of them to the regional and state competitions as possible.

“Our main goal this season is to continue building on our strong team culture while developing the mental and physical skills of our new athletes,” Hebert said.

With this, Hebert stresses the importance of “maintaining our tradition of academic excellence and sportsmanship.” The academic portion is especially important, as the team GPA placed first in the state academically last year.

“As a team, we want to push each other to be intentional in everything we do-in training, in meets, and in the classroom,” she said. “Our focus is on progress, consistency, and teamwork.”

Hebert adds that she wants her lifters to “be more intentional about meet preparation and recovery” and pay attention to the individual goals they set, as well as how they progress throughout the season.

Morgan Maguire (Sr.) was selected as this year’s team captain, and Hebert says that the team will place a large “emphasis on leadership,” not just through Maguire’s role, but through their other four seniors in Remie Joseph, Janie Crum, Maya White, and Maya Uralil.

“Our seniors are stepping up as role-models and helping guide the younger lifters,” Hebert said. “It’s all about building a strong, supportive culture that will carry our program forward for years to come.”

These five seniors are joined by eleven freshmen, six sophomores, and eight juniors:

  • Chloe Arsenault (Fr.)

  • Cailyn Hathcock (Fr.)

  • Nevaeh Harmon (Fr.)

  • Sophia Cucci (Fr.)

  • Isabella Garcia (Fr.)

  • Emersyn Fielding (Fr.)

  • Caroline Steward (Fr.)

  • Olivia Seneck (Fr.)

  • Kiara Gutierrez (Fr.)

  • Jordyn Hasty (Fr.)

  • Alexa Maher (Fr.)

  • Ella O’Connor (So.)

  • Samantha Taylor (So.)

  • Juliet Sprague (So.)

  • Natalie Metzger (So.)

  • Madeline Frazzini (So.)

  • Victoria Prater (So.)

  • Zoey Morelli (Jr.)

  • Helena Hobko (Jr.)

  • Ariyana Reeves (Jr.)

  • Sophia Thomas (Jr.)

  • Amelia Someson (Jr.)

  • Selin Meric (Jr.)

  • Riley Lee (Jr.)

  • Gamar’Riya (GG) Howell (Jr.)

PCHS’s girls weightlifting program has had a great deal of success, with multiple lifters qualifying for the FHSAA State Championship in three of the last four seasons. Zoey Morelli (Jr.) and Sarah Griffin (Class of 2024) represented Parrish at the 2024 meet, while Madeline Frazzini (So.) joined Morelli at last year’s meet.

Morelli has had extensive success, topping her 6th place States medal in 2024 by earning a silver medal in the Olympic lifting category at States last season. She additionally was selected to the 2025 Sarasota Herald-Tribune All-Area Girls Weightlifting Team.

Since the season is already underway, take a look at how the first half of the season has panned out for the Lady Bulls:

  • The Lady Bulls started the season on top, finishing first in an October 30 tri-match against Bradenton Christian School and Manatee High School. Multiple lifters set new personal records, and Maguire, Morelli, Joseph, Crum, Frazzini, Selin Meric (Jr.), and Riley Lee (Jr.) each placed first in their weight class.

  • Multiple Lady Bulls set new PRs and finished first in their respective weight classes in a November 5 match at Manatee High School.

  • Morelli placed third at the American Open Finals held in Daytona Beach, FL from December 4-7. She went six for six in all her lifts, and her clean and jerk, snatch, and total lifts were personal records.

  • At the Lemon Bay Elite Meet over winter break, five lifters placed in their respective category and weight class: Maguire was 6th in Olympic and Traditional, Joseph finished 6th in Traditional, Frazzini placed 3rd in Olympic and 5th in Traditional, White came in 5th in Olympic, and Sophia Thomas (Jr.) placed 3rd in Olympic and Traditional.

We’ll keep you updated on how the Lady Bulls fare through their remaining meets this season.
