A-team, a competition-based team that quizzes on different academic questions in all subjects, concluded their Fall 2025 competition season.
A-team has four competitions a season/semester. Each competition is both team scored and individually scored; individual scores determine who will be part of the Manatee County team and represent the county at the Commissioner's Academic Challenge in Orlando.
Leadership for A-Team this year includes President Jynelle Meye, Vice President Maya Uralil, and Secretary Lena Zielinska.
Students involved in the club believe A-team can be useful in the future.
“The way you interact with people on A team, the teamwork for sure, helps you in the future because you work and answer questions together,” said Zielinska.
Additionally, Uralil states that A-Team benefits college applications. “I think it kind of shows colleges this person is academically inclined due to them wanting to join a club for academic interests,” said Uralil.
The competition results for the season are as follows:
September 23: Parrish placed 8th and 12th for Blue and White teams
October 28: Parrish Blue team placed 2nd with 146 points
November 20: Parrish Blue team placed 6th with 133 points
December 11: Parrish placed 8th and 12th again for Blue and White teams
Unfortunately, no one qualified for the Manatee County team again this year. It is a goal the program will continue to strive for in the future.
A-Team will continue as a club throughout the spring semester. Recruitment for the 2026-2027 season will begin in April with invitations sent out to eligible students based on GPA and teacher recommendations.
In April, the team will also celebrate their graduating seniors and begin appointing new leadership.
