The FHSAA released the academic rankings for Fall Sports. Teams qualify for the academic ranking if they have a large enough team roster and a combined unweighted GPA of a 3.0 or higher.
The results for the Fall Sports Academic teams at Parrish Community High School are as follows:
Volleyball State Champion 3.9226 GPA
Football State Runner Up 3.299 GPA
Girls Golf 9th 3.798 GPA
Girls Cross Country 15th 3.788 GPA
Girls Swimming 23rd 3.442 GPA
Boys Cross Country 25th 3.562 GPA
Boys Golf 47th 3.282 GPA
The only fall sport to not be eligible in the academic ranking was boys swimming. However, this was due to their smaller team roster. Their GPA was high enough to qualify.
The academic ranking showcases the importance of academics. Athletes must balance the demands in the classroom and their sport.
“I’m very proud of how hard all the girls in our program work on their academics,” exclaimed volleyball coach Danielle Stevenson. “We stress the high importance of grades in our program. Our athletes are students first and it shows in their grades. In addition, we have great teachers on campus!”
