The Bulls Theater Company is presenting a showcase on February 17 at 6:30pm to feature the One-Act play “Hamlet Thrill-Ma-Geddon" by Don Zolidis. The showcase will feature students in Theater One and Three.
The play is about a high school drama club facing budget cuts attempting to put on a series of scenes to summarize Shakespeare’s famous play Hamlet. The play is meant to be satirical and comical with a nod to the 80s.
Theatre One's version has more comedic values, focusing on the story in a funny way suitable for all ages. Freshman Haven Wood is playing the ghost. The ghost is Hamlet’s father.
Wood says “It's very different compared to the Crucible a few months ago. We get to be more comedic and chaotic, so it’s a lot more entertaining. The costuming is hilarious and I'm so excited to put on this show.”
Theater Three is also performing scenes but will take a more serious tone traditional to the original play. Junior Jomari Coleman is playing Hamlet which will include the famous scene “To Be or Not to Be”, an emotional soliloquy contemplating life or death.
Coleman expressed, “This scene makes me feel inspired as an actor to become better at expressing how I feel on stage and how to live in the character. Hamlet is a very sophisticated character and is very unique and I'm glad I can show my talents while playing him.”
The showcase is free and open to all students and the community to come out and enjoy.
