Senior Blake Sanchez took first place in a recent district competition with two photo submissions. This recognition earned him the right to advance to the Florida Scholastic Press Association (FSPA) contest in the spring.

Sanchez has been in the photography program for the past 2 years. The title for his photos is Patriotism (left photo) and Friday Night Lights (right photo).

Photography teacher Kelly Schweers said, “Blake has a strong natural eye for photography and has demonstrated the ability to produce impactful work.”

This was echoed by Sanchez when he said, “Taking professional photos isn’t that hard if you know what you're doing.”

The photography program hopes to celebrate more success soon.

“At the moment, Blake is the primary student receiving high-level recognition; however, several of our students have recently submitted work to the Florida Strawberry Festival photography competition and the Dalí Museum student exhibition.” said Schweers.
