There wasn’t a dry eye after the curtain closed on the final performance of Cinderella. The emotions of the ensemble were clear in the final notes and the final bows.

The long-awaited Bulls Theater Company production of Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Enchanted Edition took to the stage for five performances April 17-19 and April 25-26.

Cinderella was the company’s fifth spring musical production. They continued to uphold tradition with cast members including local elementary school students and a live orchestra pit.

Theater director Olga Pena said this year’s musical held the largest cast yet with over 80 students including the cast, stage crew, tech crew, and the orchestra pit.

Every prop piece on stage, including the clock banners and Cinderella's transforming ball gown, was made by students. Every musical note was played by students led by PCHS band director Ron Lambert.

This year held a diverse cast, which Pena said makes directing a challenge. However, it was easy because she enjoyed it.

“My favorite part of Cinderella is the magic, and it takes so many people to make this show magical. I loved every second of it,” said Pena.

The magic carried into the auditorium lobby, decorated by parent volunteers to welcome audience members for each show.

“Cast and tech worked so hard with back-to-back shows,” Pena explained, “but that’s my favorite part; seeing what you pictured in your head come to life.”

The theater company awarded the year’s legacy robe to senior Claire Carlton. The legacy robe is presented to a senior each year who is recognized as an outstanding ensemble member.

Carlton reflected on her time with the Bulls Theater Company. She said, “It’s bittersweet, I’ve grown so much through theater. I’m miles better than when I was a freshman. This has also allowed me to have more confidence and respect the art of theater. It’s sad to know I must leave this behind, but I’m ready to move forward to whatever the future holds."

The emotions from the final performance came in part from the senior members realizing their time on stage for the Bulls Theater Company had come to an end. It also came from numerous months of rehearsals and behind the scenes magic coming together for five memorable performances.

The Bulls Theater Company will conclude the year with their annual Bruizer Awards. It will be a red carpet experience to honor the year’s theatrical talents and graduating thespians.
