English Teacher Amanda Hedman from Parrish Community High School was nominated for the Congressional Education Award from Congressman Buchanan’s office. This award is given to recognize administrators, educators, and support staff who go above and beyond.
There are four categories for this award: Administration, teacher, support staff, and career service.
287 employees across 43 schools (elementary through high school) were nominated in the 16th Congressional District in Florida. This is the eastern part of Hillsborough and all of Manatee County.
Hedman shared her excitement about the award. “It's really exciting because I don't think teachers really receive the credit to them, and so it felt good,” she said.
Students had the chance to show their gratitude towards Hedman and other PCHS teachers through kind notes and gifts during teacher appreciation week.
“Mrs. Hedman is a great teacher, and she cares a lot about her students.” stated Lexi Brielman. Brielmann is in Hedman’s second period class. “I appreciate how she goes over the assignments with us, so we get a better understanding of the topic.”
