Several students from our HOSA chapter made their mark at the Florida HOSA State Leadership Conference, held April 16–19 at the Marriott Orlando World Center, bringing home major awards and earning spots at the international level.
Junior Anusha Uralil placed third in World Health and Disparities, a highly competitive event that challenges students to analyze global health issues and propose solutions. Her top three finish secured her a place at the HOSA International Leadership Conference, which will take place June 16–21 in Indianapolis.
Another standout was Nichole Lacaille, who earned fourth place in Life Support Skills, demonstrating advanced emergency response techniques under pressure. Close behind her was Holly Daley, who finished fifth in the same event, rounding out an impressive showing for the school in one of HOSA’s most demanding skill‑based competitions.
In the knowledge based category, Selin Meric placed in the top 10 on the HOSA History Exam, showcasing her mastery of the organization’s past, mission, and impact on healthcare education. Her strong performance also qualified her to compete at the international conference alongside Uralil.
For the students advancing, the upcoming trip to Indianapolis represents not just a chance to compete, but an opportunity to meet future healthcare professionals from around the world, attend workshops, and represent Florida on a global stage.
As the school year comes to an end this week, Uralil and Meric are already preparing for June, hoping to carry the momentum from Orlando into the international arena. No matter the outcome, their achievements at states have already made the chapter, and the community, proud.
