Volleyball hosted Senior Night on Thursday, October 8 during their game against Southeast High School. Senior night brings their regular season to a close. Varsity goes into the district championship with a record of 17-7.

The team’s Instagram page posted “Senior Spotlights” to highlight their five seniors: Alexis Gallagher, Alyssa Jones, Khyler Reed, Lily Smith, and Audrie Wilson.

Gallagher said her favorite memory is getting to play with her sister (Adi Gallagher on JV), while everyone else mentioned the fun bus rides. Reed also mentioned the times spent at Culver's after a game.

After college, Gallagher plans to go to college for sports psychology. Jones plans to attend FSU for sports marketing. Smith will also attend college and hopes to spend time traveling with her sister.

Reed and Wilson have plans to play college volleyball. Reed is committed to playing at Western Carolina University while Wilson plans to play for Daytona State after which she hopes to become an OBGYN sonographer or CRNA.

Head Coach Danielle Stevenson said at the beginning of the season that they had many goals to accomplish such as “focusing on mastering fundamental execution, improving our team transition speed, and raising our overall passing and serving efficiency ratings to stay competitive in key match situations.”

From these past few games anyone could see that they have been working hard to reach these goals.

Varsity took to the Lake Howell tournament Sept. 18-19. They won the silver bracket, bringing their tournament record to 4-1 and placing fourth overall.

The tension was high going into their next batch of games. Some of the highlights include beating their rival Palmetto High School for the second time 3-0 on Sept. 24. Additionally, the Varsity team took on their district rival Lakewood Ranch High School on Oct. 6. Parrish lost their first match but claimed victory in the rematch 3-1.

Varsity’s next step is to prepare for the upcoming district championship.
