The honorable Judge Edward Nicholas recently visited to induct and welcome Miller Elementary fifth graders into K-Kids International.
Judge Nicholas spoke about the importance of community, giving back and treating everyone with kindness.
The student leaders took the K-Kids oath and completed a service project by placing bookmarks in Miller's school library books as surprises for other students.
The bookmarks contained positive messages, encouragement to keep reading, and reminders to be kind to everybody around them.
K-Kids sponsors at Miller Elementary include Mrs. Cindy Bigelow, Mrs. Debbie Brady, and Mrs. Brijet France.

School District of Manatee County Food and Nutrition Services and Jessie P. Miller Elementary's cafeteria staff teamed up with Ms. Kopinsky’s class for a hands-on Cinco de Mayo celebration--making homemade salsa. Yum!

The Florida Department of Education released the Florida Value Added Model (VAM) Fiscal Transparency Tool, a web-based fiscal transparency tool that identifies public schools and districts with high academic achievement based on the ratio of classroom expenditures to total expenditures. VAM is intended to help taxpayers evaluate the financial efficiency of a school district with other similarly situated school districts.
