PCHS Bulletin - Amelia Capellan

Published Date - Sept. 4, 2025

Parrish Community High School welcomed two new administrators for the start of the 2025-2026 school year: Kelly Hamel and Paula Hart.

These two additions brought the PCHS administration staff to five. Due to the growth of the student population, Hart and Hamel joined fellow assistant principals Melissa Gagnon and Paul Champagne under the leadership of Principal Daniel Bradshaw. Their goal is to keep the school running smooth and safe while ensuring students feel comfortable in the school environment.

Both Hart and Hamel have already received a warm welcome from the students, faculty, and staff at PCHS. Continue reading to learn more about these two new faces to the PCHS Administration team.

Paula Hart

Hart has worked as an Assistant Principal since 2016 between Sugg, Buffalo Creek, and Haile Middle Schools. She was transferred to PCHS at the beginning of the 25-26 school year by the Manatee County School District.

Hart’s favorite part about working at PCHS is seeing the students. She enjoys helping them work their way through high school while trying to achieve the goals they set for themselves and focusing on their academic success.

“The majority of the students are driven. They have goals that they want to meet, and it’s evident in the way that the majority of the students behave and carry themselves,” Hart said.

She hopes to become more involved and familiar with the community at PCHS. She plans to begin by learning as many student and teacher names as she can so she can better “become integrated and a part of the community at Parrish.”

A fun fact about Hart is that when she was in high school, she was the student body president. She has always had a love for the Student Government Association (SGA) and hopes to become more involved in their activities at Parrish Community.

Kelly Hamel

Hamel previously taught grades 3-8 across all subjects. Most recently, she worked as a dean at Dr. Mona Jain Middle School, building a supportive and welcoming environment. She hopes to carry that over to her new role at Parrish Community.

“I focused on building positive school culture, supporting teachers with behavior and academic strategies, and working closely with families to ensure student success,” said Hamel. “Each of these experiences has prepared me to step into the AP role, and I’m excited to bring that background to Parrish Community High School.”

Hamel hopes to leave a meaningful impact and feels excited to work in an environment that is reflective of her values as an educator and teacher.

“I truly believe this is a place where I can make a meaningful contribution and impact,” Hamel said. “Parrish has such a strong reputation for community, collaboration, and putting students first, which aligns perfectly with my own personal values as an educator and leader.”

Hamel went on to say that she felt honored and is excited to serve alongside such a dedicated staff “to ensure every student feels safe, supported, and inspired.” This and building relationships with students have been her favorite experiences so far since arriving at Parrish Community.

“One of my biggest hopes is to continue building strong connections with students, families, and staff so that everyone feels valued and supported,” Hamel said. “I want to help create a school environment where students are not only challenged academically but also encouraged to grow as individuals and leaders.”

Hamel also said her other goal is, “to support teachers by providing the resources and strategies they need to help every student succeed. Ultimately, I hope to contribute to a positive school culture where students are proud to be a Bull.”

A fun fact about Hamel is that she has flown on the Goodyear blimp twice. Once in Florida and once in Akron, Ohio where she had the opportunity to fly it.
