(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - Mustang swimmers dive into their first week of practice.

Senior Captain Matthew Pollamhus said, “Our first day of swim this year went great with many swimmers new and old showing up for tryouts. With all the talent on the team this year we can accomplish huge things as long as we put in the work through the season.”

The swim team will continue working through the year at the YMCA from 3-5 p.m. with help from their new Head Coach, Paul Sochin.

The first practice focused on techniques and speed, helping swimmers improve their form.

Junior Gabriella Martinez Reyes said, “I loved seeing all my friends and meeting the new swimmers! It was a hard practice since I only swam for one season in the past, but it was worth it to be a part of the team again. I’m most excited for the meets and cheering on the team.”

The first swim meet of the season is scheduled for Aug. 27 at the YMCA. The Mustang swimmers will compete against Parrish and Manatee High Schools.
