Milly Harvey – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Mustangs can combine their Christian faith with their sports and enjoy each others fellowship at the Fellowship for Christian Athletes (FCA).

The club meets every Tuesday morning at 7 a.m., the leaders welcome back returning or new members to talk about God.

FCA is a community built on faith and friendship, encouraging any new members to join and become a part of the family.

Mustangs don’t even have to be in a sport to join the club because the main message is spreading the gospel and preaching the Word of the Lord to their fellow Mustangs.

The club offers things such as guest speakers and free food, giving Mustangs friendly connections and spiritual growth before the school day begins.

“The club is for students to get to know one another in fellowship and its not even just for Christians and athletes but anyone is welcome into the club and can get to know God and make new friends,” said club advisor and LRHS art teacher Samantha Hayes.

The club is led by student officers who are chosen at the end of the year for the upcoming year. If students in the club like public speaking, socializing, and not afraid to say truthful things, this is a position that could benefit them.

In certain meetings, guest speakers from fellow churches or Christian backgrounds may come in and spread the Word instead of student officers speaking that day.

Sophomore Kalli Krebs said, “I went to FCA last year and I really enjoyed it, I feel like it helped me build my connection with God and everything like that and I feel like it was a really good start to my morning, too.”
