(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) —The start of the school year means new beginnings for Mustangs, but it will also bring new opportunities for veteran faculty and staff members.

Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Student Support Specialist Molly Gummerson has been working in the public education system for five years . She has been around the US, first working in North Carolina, then in Florida.

When moving to Florida, Gummerson always had an eye on LRHS.

“I knew the school was a top-rated and we are now a local Lakewood Ranch family so it was perfect!”

While Gummerson has been working at schools for the past five years, she has had multiple careers before that.

Gummerson said, “I am a career changer and previously was in the US Army as a Military Police Officer and then worked for years as an assistant investigator for the Department of Children and Families (DCF). I'm also a lifelong artist and love to paint.”

Gummerson has been given the chance to take on managing the school’s executive intern program.

Even though taking on new responsibilities can be scary, Gummerson seems unfazed.

“This is my first time heading an internship.  I was honored to be asked to facilitate this program. Interning is a great way to build your resume when you are still a student. It also gives the opportunity to learn on-the-job skills.”
