Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) provides students with higher education opportunities. This series will highlight the higher education opportunities LRHS provides through dual enrollment at Manatee Technical College (MTC), Advanced Placement (AP) courses, as well as dual enrollment at State College of Florida (SCF) and University of South Florida (USF).

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)-Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) offers a variety of dual enrollment programs.

Dual enrollment is a program that allows all qualified high school students to high school graduation and courses that work towards a degree or certificate.

LRHS sophomore Jordan Jendro said, “Although the application process took a lot of time and effort, it was all worth it as the class has been very beneficial for me and the teacher has been amazing as well.”

When taking dual enrollment through USF and State College of Florida, Mustangs take college courses toward associate or bachelor's degrees.

LRHS Assistant Principal Dr. Lindsay Calson stated, " Early admissions programs at USF and SCF allow qualified students to spend the school year enrolled in college and taking their classes on the college campus.”

Senior student Madison Poythress stated, “Dual enrollment has been an amazing opportunity for me. I’ve gotten to experience what it is like taking college classes at their campus, helping to prepare me for my next few years away.”
