Jenna Khalil and Gabriela Zevallos -  Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Acceptance letters have been sent out for Lakewood Ranch High School’s (LRHS) Girls in White Coats (GIWC) club.

Club adviser and LRHS science teacher Alexandra Wilcoxson said interest in the group was very impressive.

"2025 had the largest number applications to our knowledge," she said. " We increased the club size to 90 members. Even with the 20% increase we were only able to offer membership to students in 10th, 11th and 12th grade.

"New this year we will create a social committee in order to foster the relationships among club members in addition to continuing to support the community volunteering with medical causes and fundraisers, bringing in guest speakers from the medical field and offering opportunities for members to have hands-on medical related trainings and experiences."

“Girls in White Coats meetings will be on the second and fourth Tuesdays after school in (LRHS science teacher Alexandra) Mrs. Wilcoxson's room.  The meetings will be approximately 60 minutes,” said LRHS senior Elizabeth Sponsel, GIWC vice president.
