Emily Davis — Mustangs Ahead

(Lakewood Ranch, FL) — First meetings dates have been announced for Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Key Club and Academic Team (A-Team).

Key Club and A-Team are holding their first meetings of the year on Aug. 26 in the school Media Center. Key Club will start at 7 a.m.. and the A-Team's meeting will be held from 2:30-3:30 p.m.

A-Team is a group of students who are experts in one or more academic subjects who compete against other schools in the district.

Practices are weekly during the first semester, and four meets will be held in the evenings with one in September, October, November, and December. Students interested are welcome to attend the practices.

Key Club is a student-led organization that focuses on building character through service and leadership. It is part of the high school branch of the Kiwanis International family, which is a global collective of leadership clubs dedicated to impacting lives and improving communities.

Key Club President Sabrina Burroughs discussed what will be covered at the first meeting.

 “We’re going to go over club procedures and hour requirements. I also plan on presenting upcoming volunteer opportunities for some members.”
