(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) offers Advanced Placement (AP) classes in a variety of subjects.
AP classes are college-level courses offered in high school from College Board to help prepare students for higher education.
Sophomore Josie Kropfl, taking AP World History, said, “I am very glad I got the opportunity to be in an AP class because it has college benefit. While it is a big adjustment, I am confident I will get used to it and let it lead me to success.”
Students taking these challenging courses are able to earn college credit by scoring a three or higher on the final AP exam.

LRHS AP U.S. Government and Politics teacher Benjamin Hall said, “The benefits of taking these classes aside from the potential college credit is that they do prepare college bound students with some of the skills they will need in college.”
Senior Elliana Willner, who takes AP Art, said, “I think taking AP classes are worth it, as long as you are willing to stay on top of your work, AP classes will be stress free classes with many benefits.”
While taking AP classes can be a big responsibility for students, it demonstrates ambition to college committees and helps build skills students will need to be successful in college.
According to the College Board, “The AP Program can help students build skills and confidence, get into and succeed in college, as well as save them time and money in college.”
