Kayla Goodwin - Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - The Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Mustang swimmers won the county championships meet held Oct. 3 at GT Bray.
The swim teams won their sixth consecutive count title.
Head Coach Paul Sochin said, “These swims were solid and very competitive with many best times! I am very proud of the entire team with their high enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and team support.”
The Mustangs swim team won overall by 505 points, beating seven other teams.
Senior captain Kyle Goodwin said, “I would say that the meet went really well for everyone. Most people got their best times and had a great time racing everyone.”
First place results for the girls include -
200 medley relay- Kiley Renick, Madison Goodwin, Zharra Conner, and Payton Griffin
200 freestyle- Griffin
200 IM- Conner
100 butterfly- Conner
500 freestyle- Raina Prines
200 freestyle relay- Conner, Payton Portale, Renick, and Griffin
100 backstroke- Portale
400 freestyle relay- Marie Simony, Kayla Goodwin, Payton Portale, and Raina Prines
First place results for the boys are as follows -
200 medley relay- Kyle Goodwin, Daniel Snitkovsky, Jaxon Griffin, and Matthew Polhamus
200 freestyle- Polhamus
50 freestyle- Snitkovsky
100 butterfly- Goodwin
500 freestyle- Shane Fluck
200 freestyle relay- Jack Serocco, Caden Fluck, Thomas McLaughin, and Filip Dziecina
100 backstroke- Goodwin
100 breaststroke- Snitkovsky
400 freestyle relay- Goodwin, Polhamus, Griffin, and Snitkovsky

Junior Raina Prines said, “I did well at the meet, and I thought it went really well. It was fun watching everyone have a high team spirit and it was overall a fun experience.”
The next swim meet is scheduled for Oct. 8 at the YMCA for a home meet.
