(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) cafeteria is re-opening a build-your-own salad station.

The station is set to open on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

The cafeteria salad bar was originally closed due to low participation. However, this year a much bigger freshman class with different tastes has led the cafeteria staff to choose to reopen it.

LRHS Cafeteria Manager Amanda Farrelly stated, “I like to have healthier options for those that might be mindful of that type of eating.”

The salad station will also serve baked potatoes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. In previous years potatoes weren’t as popular at LRHS as they were at other high schools, but cafeteria staff this year has decided to give it another go.

Salad bars with potatoes have been reported to be very popular at other schools in Manatee County.

LRHS freshman Andrew Walfield said, “I’m excited to have a new and healthier option to try at lunch, it will be a nice change of pace. “
