Ranch Reflections are articles written by LRHS students and staff who want to share their experiences, thoughts, and concerns. This is a great opportunity for Mustangs to branch out beyond traditional news stories. In this edition LRHS's 2025 Homecoming queen looks back on her big moment.
Mariana Alvarez-Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- On Oct. 30 during half time of the Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Homecoming 2025 football game, I was announced as homecoming queen.
I met the other candidates near the concession stand five minutes before the end of the second quarter to line up. Members in Student Government Association (SGA) helped us get lined up by grade, starting with freshmen and ending with seniors.
A minute before the second quarter ended we walked to the side of the field where and waited. Once the whistle blew for the end of the quarter, they started announcing the ninth grade winners. I started to get nervous at this point but tried to be more excited.

After announcing everyone else, I was the last one in line and stepped up to the line to walk. After I was announced I walked down the field smiling and stopped in the middle of the field to take a picture.
The speakers then announced the winners for each, grade. Finally they announced senior prince, princess and ,finally, King and Queen. The first thought when they announced my name was “Oh My Gosh”. I was so excited and my friends Ava, Hayden, and Erika jumped with joy. I walked off the field to take many pictures and people congratulating me.
This was a core memory and something I didn’t expect but grateful for this opportunity.
