(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - As a current senior on the Lakewood Ranch High School varsity cheer team, Gabby Hiatt has spent the last two years supporting her teammates. Always bringing a positive attitude to practice, she’s become an essential part of the team’s spirit.

Hiatt's cheerleading journey began before she even came to Lakewood Ranch.

“I was on the cheer team at my old school,” she shared. “So, when I moved here, I knew I still wanted to cheer, and I knew it would be a great way to meet people at a new school.” That decision led to long-lasting friendships and memories.

This year marked Hiatt's second as a back spot on varsity, a position she deeply appreciates.

“Being a back spot made me realize how important it is that everyone in a stunt group does their job correctly,” she explained. “My flyer’s life is in my hands because when she comes down, it’s my responsibility to make sure she’s safe.”

When asked about her favorite moment from her time on varsity, Hiatt shared, “My favorite memory over the past two years has been senior night. The recognition from everyone made me feel like my work on the cheer team didn’t go unnoticed. I’ve loved the past two years on this team, and I wouldn’t change anything.”

As graduation approaches, Hiatt is focused on finishing the year off strong. “My goal is to finish the school year with good grades and good attendance,” she said. But there’s one part of cheer she’ll miss the most. “The football games… I’m really going to miss that.”

With her dedication and positivity, Hiatt has left a lasting mark on Lakewood Ranch cheer. As she looks to the future, her teammates and coaches know she’ll continue to work just as hard as she did on the sidelines.
