(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - Lakewood Ranch High School’s (LRHS) girls weightlifting team competed in the Bloodhound invitational at Auburndale High School on Nov. 8.
It was the first major meet of the weightlifting season, with teams from around Florida.
Head coach Elijah Weaver said, “I think it was a good experience for a lot of girls because we have a lot of new girls who are elevating their game. Auburndale gives a filling of a regional meet.”
Weaver continued, “Our biggest competitors were Lake Wales High School and Winter Haven High School.”
The girls outperformed most of the teams in the region. Although they did not win, they finished above many regional teams.
The girls also competed in their official third meet of the season against Braden River High School (BRHS) on Nov. 12.
LRHS junior Kayla Goodwin said, “It was a lot of fun. It was a great opportunity to challenge myself and lift as heavy as possible.”
