soft skills presentation

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - On Monday, Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Advanced Placement (AP) human geography students attended a presentation hosted by “Game on Nation” and “Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance.”

The presentation focused on the discussion of ‘soft skills’ and how they can be incorporated into our daily lives with the power of advocacy. It highlighted the significant purpose in driven teamwork and communication through the spirit of connection.

According to Handshake, “Soft skills are becoming increasingly important in today's job market. They refer to the personal attributes that enable you to interact effectively with others, such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management.”

Erin Watson, the main speaker of the presentation from Game on Nation, shared her input on the topic. “Soft skills are so important not just for you guys but for everyone. They are skills that we need in life to make us well-rounded individuals.”

While inviting all areas of skill and communication, the presentation entailed students to participate in the ‘Dimmer Switch’ activity, which focused on identifying the different levels of engagement that we each show not just verbally but with the way we present ourselves through our actions as well.

“It’s a common progress,” “Game On Nation”’s Chris Friday shared. “Not just Lakewood Ranch High School but other schools as well have shown the sense of social awkwardness, and with our little activity, students displayed progress in confidence with their approach when socializing with one another.”

The goal of Watson and Friday is to inspire students to continue pushing themselves to success and never giving up to foster an authentic sense of connection throughout life.

As ended on a high note, both presenters explained that part of life is failing in order to succeed. We must keep trying and continue to celebrate success every step of the way, even with the little things in life.
