Cate Kitcher- Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Robotics Team competed at Kraken Klash Vex V5 Push Back Tournament Dec. 6.

The Kraken Klash Vex V5 Push Back Tournament was held at Krinn Technical High School in New Port Richey, FL.

LRHS Robotics Adviser and engineering teacher Benjamin Long said, “There were many high-quality amazing robots and previous World Championship qualifiers at the competition, but Lakewood brought home 4 of 7 available Trophies at the competition.”

Twenty-one Florida teams were competing for a position in the Florida State Championship, held in February.

LRHS brought two teams to VEX Robotics V5 competition -

-         6734P also known as Paradigm

Jaxon Carver, Freshman

Carl Santos, Freshman

-         6734J also known as Bot Brigade

Jack Magruder, Senior

Thomas Hill, Junior

Mason Garrett, Junior

Jackson Fawcett, Senior

Bot Brigade did better than in the previous competition, earning the Judge's Award and placing 14th in the event. The Judges award is given to a brand-new, competitive team.

Paradigm won the Robot Skills Champion, Design Award, and Tournament Champion trophies over the course of the weekend.

The team that succeeds in the head-to-head single elimination competition is named the Tournament Champion. The team with the best driver and autonomous program wins the title of Robot Skills Champion. The team with the best Engineering Design Notebook and team interview receives the design prize.
