(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) held a Showcase open house Tuesday to inform incoming freshmen about the school.

During the open house, LRHS Principal Dustin Dahlquist encouraged families to choose LRHS as their children’s next step.

Dahlquist said, “We believe Lakewood Ranch is the next best step for eighth graders due to our proud community. Students will go through a rigorous, academic program here at LRHS that prepares them for college.”

He informed the families of the staff, such as the assistant principals, deans, and counselors. He also listed the numerous awards and recognition that LRHS has received throughout the years.

Several clubs and activities set up tables in the courtyard to welcome and inform the incoming freshmen and their parents, such as Student Government Association (SGA), Mustangs Ahead journalism, Chemistry Club, and more.

Chemistry Club Vice President Andrew Bruns said, “I prepared for this event by helping to make a trifold and set up the table to talk to the families.”

Stampede officer Christian Martel stated, “I prepared for this event by getting with my officers to coordinate and facilitate our table, ready to inform the new freshmen of Stampede.”

Families shared their thoughts on the evening.

Parent Denise Fyfe stated, “We’re from Scotland, so this is a totally different school from what we see back home, but we like it. It’s a very nice school.”

Parent Scott Evansik said, “I am really impressed with how seriously the school and administration take this event. Everyone obviously put a lot of work into it, which comes across that the students are very passionate about sharing the different clubs.”

LRHS staff and students worked hard to put this important event together, preparing their tables and how to reach out to the families.

LRHS Volleyball Coach Jessica Leupold stated, “This event is important for all teachers, coaches, and sponsors to meet the students as well as for them to see their options.”

LRHS SGA Historian Hannah Stinnett said, “This event is important as it shows freshmen the importance of being involved and finding a community in high school. It inspires them to try new things as they enter a new chapter of their lives.”
