On Saturday at The Soar Lab, Barbara A. Harvey K-8 teacher Olivia Swartling read her first book, Selly’s Belly, alongside its illustrator - her former Gilbert W McNeal Elementary student and now Lakewood Ranch High School senior, Isabelle Harrell.

A full-circle moment celebrating creativity, mentorship, and imagination, complete with Storytime and art made from raw fruits and veggies.

A bond that began in 2019. Proof that when teachers lead by example, ideas can truly grow.
Olivia, Selly’s mom, is now teaching agriculture and told us about her most recent classroom project, sewing. Isabelle, who graduates in May 2026, shared that she’ll be studying graphic design and marketing at UCF - Congratulations!
