(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - The Lakewood Ranch High School lacrosse program participated earlier this month to Premier Sports Complex for Lax v. Leukemia, a fundraiser to support families affected by cancer.
The Mustangs competed against Holy Names, Lake Wales, Barron Collier, and Steinbrenner High Schools.
Lax v. Leukemia reminded everyone that the game isn’t just about winning; it’s about supporting families who really need it.
It was the Mustangs’ first time playing together as a new team. After losing the first game to Holy Names, we bounced back with three back-to-back wins, showing that even a new team can come together and play hard.
“You all showed up ready to play, worked hard, and supported each other,” Mustang Head Coach Blair Woods said, “It was a perfect preview at what this team can do this upcoming season.”
He was satisfied with everyone, especially the girls who are brand new to lacrosse.

The boy's lacrosse program also participated in the Lax v. Leukemia event.
The varsity team went 2-1, winning against Osceola and Gulf Coast but losing to Jesuit High School in a close game.
The junior varsity (JV) team played Tampa Catholic and Sarasota High Schools and won both games
Junior Reece Poole, a defenseman and captain, said, “We had a good tournament. Our team played very well together and had good chemistry. Looking forward to the rest of our season ahead of us.”
