Josie Kropfl – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) boys varsity wrestling team competed in tournaments over the long Presidents Day weekend, and the girls celebrated the end of a great season.
The Lady Mustang wrestlers finished in ninth place out of 21 teams in their district, with 73.0 points.
Mustangs senior Lani Pace at fourth, junior Francesca Bisordi at third, and senior Vanessa Rodriguez-Gallo at third were recognized for the girls regional qualifiers.
According to Coach Nate Lancaster, “the regional qualifiers will be hoping to punch their tickets to the state tournament, starting with the regional tournament on Saturday, February 21, at North Fort Myers High School.”
Lancaster said how proud he is of “the work Ava Bell, Anna Chop, Bailey Loring, Sophia Pereira, and Livia Zamperlini-Ramos put in this year, getting better every day, and leaving it all on the mat today, and all season.”

The varsity boys wrestling team competed in the Bidwell IBT Tournament at Lemon Bay High School on Feb. 16.
They placed fourth out of 23 teams, and four Mustangs made the top four.
Tristan Sheffield placed second, Heath Phillips placed third and Jamarcus Cuff and Aaron Rodriguez placed fourth.
Coming up for the boys varsity wrestling team are the FHSAA 3A District 7 Championships on Feb. 20, at Sarasota High School.
Lancaster explained the significance of the upcoming championship since “placing top four in your weight class moves you onto the Regional tournament the following weekend.”
