(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) senior Gabrielle Hotaling is a national semifinalist for the National Honor Society Scholarship Award.
Hotaling, NHS Secretary, said, “I feel grateful to have won the scholarship. NHS has been one of the highlights of my high school experience so winning this scholarship felt like the perfect ending to that chapter.”
The National Honor Society website describes the ideal candidate as someone who embodies the four pillars of NHS and -
Demonstrate a service mindset by seeking out and voluntarily fulfilling needs to help others.
Commit to learning, growing, and making the most educational opportunities.
Take ownership and responsibility as a leader, in title or in action, in school and community.
Display perseverance, honesty, integrity, and ethical and compassionate decision-making.

LRHS English teacher and NHS adviser Tracy Gregory stated, “This is the first NHS member I've had who has been chosen for the scholarship”
Hotaling said, “My biggest piece of advice would be to just apply. You truly never know which scholarships you will win and there are so many available, it is always best to just give it a shot.”
