Ranch Reflections are articles written by LRHS students and staff who want to share their experiences, thoughts, and concerns. This is a great opportunity for Mustangs to branch out beyond traditional news stories. In this edition an LRHS senior looks back on his first trip to Disney World.
Ethan Scheft – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - I always wanted to go to Disney World ever since we first moved down to Florida. We finally went when I was 5 years old.
I remember it like it was yesterday. When we got into the car, I remember my parents saying we were going to church.
Little did I know that we were headed straight to Disney. I remember saying things like “wow this is a really long car ride to church”, because church was only like a ten-minute drive away.
Then when we got there, I came to realize that we were at Disney and I was extremely excited, looking around I saw how big of a place it was. I remember the rides were a lot of fun and I still enjoy them to this day. I remember the smell of waffles and candy throughout the park.

One thing that really stood out to me was how massive the park felt at that age. I think the first ride we rode there was Splash Mountain. It was shocking to me how big the ride looked.
One ride that was scary to me at the time was called the Tower of Terror. The wait was about 90 minutes, and the funny part is I don’t remember a thing from the ride because I had my eyes closed the whole time.
My favorite ride I went on I think while I was there was the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. It was a very long wait to ride. I think about 120 minutes, but in the end it was worth it.
On the way home I slept the whole ride back.
