(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Technology Student Association (TSA) prepares for upcoming state competition.

TSA states will occur March 25-28 at the DoubleTree Universal hotel in Orlando. LRHS students will compete in a vast array of events including Video Game Design, Fashion Design, Board Game Design, and Webmaster.

Florida TSA describes the state competition as follows, “The state conference and competition may be the most exciting event of the TSA school year.  Thousands of students arrive in Orlando near the end of February with the goal of a first place in their TSA event(s). Students compete over three days, and the culmination of all the hard work comes at the awards ceremony on Saturday evening.”

During the last few weeks, Mustangs have worked hard to finish their events and prepare for the conference. Some of the finishing touches include creating digital portfolios showcasing events, building boxes, and adding functionality to already finished events.

Last year, LRHS placed top three in five events and top 10 in 14 events. One highlight was LRHS winning first place at Webmaster, an event where students build a website to fit a certain theme.

This year LRHS TSA hopes to continue and build upon the success of previous years and to gather feedback about their events for the national competition in Washington D.C. this June.

LRHS freshmen Katie Kuhlmann is competing in high school TSA for the first time, she said “I am excited to win Board Game (Design)”.

TSA tryouts occur at the beginning of every school year for students interested.
