(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Choir will perform at the David Geffen Hall at the Lincoln Center in New York City on Monday, March 30.
The concert, named ‘Vocal Colors’, is a tribute to renowned composer Kyle Pederson and will feature seven of his songs.
The singers will rehearse and perform with Pederson alongside peers from 12 other selected student choirs across the country.
Participating schools were selected by a Lincoln Center representative last school year, and LRHS Choir has been planning this ever trip since.
“A representative saw a YouTube video a parent posted of our performance of the song ‘All of me,’ and thought we sang very well and so we were selected to perform. It’s such an honor,” said LRHS Choir Director Rebekah Lester.

During LRHS chorus’ four-day New York trip, Mustangs will see the musical ‘Chicago’ on Broadway and meet the cast members. Other activities include sightseeing at the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Times Square, and Wall Street as well as visiting the 9/11 memorial grounds.
Since opening in 1962, David Geffen Hall has become one of New York City’s most important music venues. As the official home to the renowned New York Philharmonic Orchestra, it showcases hundreds of top performers and artists from around the world each year.
LRHS Senior Madelyn Keller said, "I'm super excited to explore the city with my friends and perform. I don’t think any of us have even been to the Lincoln Center so it will be an unforgettable experience.”
