Taylor Knoll – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - Last night, Thurs. March 26, the Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) National Honor Society (NHS) welcomed new inductees.
The induction ceremony began at 6:30 p.m., as LRHS NHS Adviser and English teacher Tracy Gregory welcomed parents and families and introduced the four main pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Then, students were called on stage one by one to sign their names in the chapter book and shake the hands of current student leaders of the club, as well as faculty. They also received their official certificate of entry into the club.
Gregory said over 70 students were inducted.
“There are 86 inductees, but some were unable to attend, so I will be inducting them at the next chapter meeting April 7th. Last night, 77 walked across the stage and signed the Membership Register,” she said.
Junior Faith Finnegan noted, “It was empowering to be sitting in the same room as other like-minded students who are as driven as I am to make an impact and excel at what we do.”
Inductees then lined up around the auditorium and held candles lit by the flame of knowledge while repeating the NHS pledge.

Once everyone was seated, Gregory read her closing remarks, including reciting the poem “Pretty Good” by Charles Osgood, which she felt summed up the tenacity every inductee showed by entering the club.
The ceremony was a solemn affair, recognizing students who worked hard inside and outside of school to show their diligence, honor, and scholarship.
Sophomore Josie Kropfl said, “I'm super excited to be in NHS and I look forward to the opportunities it will bring me.”
Sophomore Avery Stewart is looking forward to the club events next year.
“I'm really happy that I got accepted, and I'm looking forward to all of the service hours it will give me and how I get to help the community,” said Stewart.
