Kayla Goodwin - Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Members of Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) attended their State Leadership Conference (SLC) from March 27-30.
Members attending the conference were able to compete in their Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) events. These consist of a variety of options.
Out of the seven teams that participated in the STAR events, four Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Mustangs were able to qualify and advance to Nationals, placing first in their events.
Here are the results of all the participants:
Interpersonal Communications - Gold and national qualifier, Senior Julia Vendramini and Senior Melissa Vendramini
Repurpose and Redesign - Gold and national qualifier, Junior Kayla Goodwin and Senior Sienna Peddie
Teach and Train - Gold and national qualifier, Senior Morgan Cunningham
Entrepreneurship - Gold, Senior Joseph Barr, Senior Isaac Lippioncott, and Senior Owen Lippioncott
Chapter Service Project Portfolio - Silver and national qualifier, Senior Yulia Morales and Senior Valeria Para
Entrepreneurship - Bronze, Freshman Laurynn Fontaine
Teaching Strategies - Bronze, Junior Natalee Wren
The LRHS FCCLA Chapter Advisor math teacher Alesha Papa said, “I am so proud of each and every student that attended and presented. This weekend was a testament to all of the hard work these students have put in all year. I am also overjoyed to say that Kayla Goodwin has formally announced that she will be running for National Office, I cannot wait to see what she is capable of on the National level!”
Members moving on to the National Leadership Conference (NLC) will continue to work on their STAR projects to further improve them and make them even better.
National Qualifier Para said, “I’m so happy and honored to have qualified for nationals. Yulia and I worked hard on our project and I’m glad to see our hard work has paid off. I can’t wait to compete on the national level and surround myself with leaders across the country!”
NLC will be held at Washington D.C. from July 6-10.
