Aiden Mandel – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - As the end of the school year approaches, the Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) baseball season also comes to an end. The regular season is over, and districts start April 2 as the Mustangs take on Parrish High School Bulls.
Under the first season of Head Coach Ian Desmond, the Mustangs went 6-12. They faced some of the best teams in the state, such as Berkeley Prep. They went 1-3 in the district and are looking to rack up some wins before the season is officially over.
LRHS baseball players gave their thoughts on the first season under coach Desmond.
Sophomore Colton Searcy said, “I had a great season not just from performance but from the new atmosphere.”

Junior Jake Lefevre said, “When I was on the field I was locked in, and brought as much success as I could to this team.”
Some stat leaders were sophomore Joey Verdone, who led the team with two wins pitching and a 2.23 earned run average (ERA). Senior Carter Sprague led the team in home runs with two and stolen bases with nine.
Junior Cole Vogel had the most hits with 15 and the most runs with 12 and also led with the highest batting average at .357. Senior Evan Kuell led the team with 10 runs batted in (RBI’s).
