(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - At the 2026 State Leadership Conference (SLC), Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) senior Seinna Peddie was able to advance her Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) project to the National level.
Her project was called Repurpose and Redesign and focused on creating hanging mobiles out of old newspapers or magazines. She went to John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital where she donated the supplies to make the mobiles and worked with the kids in the playroom to make the mobiles.
In total, she created and donated 10 of these hanging mobiles at the hospital with the children.

Peddie said, “When I was at the hospital the children came in excited to see a new face. Many kids came interested to see what I was doing, and they were able to color and create their own hanging mobiles. The kids there loved the new activity that they were given the chance to do.”
In the STAR event, members were rewarded with either a bronze, silver, or gold medal for their placement in the event. Peddie was able to score a 99 securing a gold medal and first place overall, which will take her directly to the National Leadership Conference (NLC) in Washington, D.C. in July.
Peddie commented on her excitement for NLC, “I am excited to get the opportunity to compete at a national level one more time. Last year was such an amazing experience winning gold in my event and I can't wait to go to nationals again.”
