Hayden Zimmerman – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - The Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) beach volleyball team played three games last week.

The Mustangs (6-4) played Venice High School, Palmetto High School, and Sarasota High School.

The girls lost 2-3 against Venice.  

Senior Ava Collins said, “Going against Venice again was a challenge, we fought until the end and although the outcome isn’t what we wanted, we tried our hardest.”

The girls won 5-0 against Palmetto. Seeds 1,2,3,5 all went 2-0 earning the Mustangs four points, and the 4 seed went 2-1 winning LRHS the final point.

Freshman Brielle Redmond said, “I am glad that we were able to come back from the loss against Venice and get the win against Palmetto.”

The girls lost 2-3 against Sarasota. Seeds 1 and beat Sarasota but seeds 3,4,5 lost, giving Sarasota the win.

Senior Julia Vendramini said, “Sarasota is tough competition and I think they pushed us hard and we fought, although the outcome isn’t what we wanted.”

The girls are scheduled to play at 4 p.m., April 15 against Palmetto High School (5-6) at UMR.
