Taylor Knoll – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - The Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) girls and boys tennis teams competed in districts on April 13 - 14.

The girls team finished runners-up in the tournament, fighting hard and coming in three points below Venice High School to secure second place.

Girls coach Hannah Legere said, “The girls’ determination, resilience, and teamwork were on full display, and I couldn’t be more proud of their effort and sportsmanship.”

The girls will be moving on to regionals next week, competing on April 21.

The girls team is moving into regionals with a record of 11-1-1 and will be competing against Hillsborough Steinbrenner High School (14-0).

The boys' team also had some hard-fought matches, coming in third in the district by a one-point difference, which marked the end of their season with a 7-4 record.

Coach Kelly Gardner said she’s proud of their season.

“They fought hard throughout the tournament and represented LRHS with integrity, determination and sportsmanship,” she said.

“The boys finished Third in the District behind Sarasota, losing by ONE point for Second.  I couldn’t be more proud of their effort and never give up attitude!”
